Angry Did something with stereo wires...HELP!!!!

I cannot stand the stereo not working! I just bought a 97 camaro z28 and the wiring for the stereo was all cut up to hell. I went to the junk yard and cut out the stereo wiring and spliced it with the wiring in my car. Nothing! Got a new stereo, can see the display, but no sound. Played with it some more, now the light to the gauges is out and so is digital odometer. My air bag lights are on also. 2 questions, 1 what's upwith the wiring and 2 where is the fuse box????

If the wiring is all chewed up.. wouldn't it be easier just to get yourself some decent aftermarket speakers and headunit? Just rewire the speakers to go into the supplied wiring harness. Unless you don't have the ilum/power/ground wires?

is your stereo system a factory bose / monsoon? if so, that is why it won't work. Another possibility is that a speaker wire is grounding out and causing a fault protection.

in SOME Bose cars there is a bright pink wire on the other harness coming from the factory radio. in GTP's and some other bose cars.. if you connect your rem. turn on wire to this wire, it will power up the bose amp(s) and work. Not sure if that wire is on our cars, but i know it works on GTP's from around the same year.

odds are you have a monsoon car and the amp is missing, check in the hatch behind spare tire

thanks guys

I went to the local library and have a book on wiring and all the basics. I have a monsoon radio in the 97. I have a 95 camaro also and the individual who had that has a sweet system up in it. However, that wiring is all cut up to hell. Why can't people just leave it to the professionals if they do not know what they are doing. Will be able to get in there this weekend. Finally NO rain!
