decent amps?

I just ordered a alpine cda 7995. external amps only. I have a rockford fosgate 4 channel , i beleive it's 600w but I'm not totally sure. I'm not really into stereo stuff to much. If I'm going to be putting in new speakers, fronts and rears. plus a sub should I use that amp for the speakers and get a new one for the subs. I'm thinking about going with either dual 10s or 12s. I'm looking into the kicker solo baric's for the main reason i think i can build them into my trunk easier. Do these subs have a decent sound to them? I also need some advice on decent amp, nothing that is for competition use, but I want something that will work well.

Use the 4-channel to power your 4 other speakers. Then buy a seperate sub amp. How much money you got to spend? Check out ol' faithful or maybe even ol' faithful's big brother!

Well that's definatly in my price range, what if I want to have 2 subs. Go with a 2 channel. Or what about hte subs that have a dual voice coil. is that a case where i go with go with a 4 channel and have the inputs going to 2 channels at once and bridge each outpu to a seperate coil??

Any experience with the infinity kappa 6.5's and component sets

Have you purchased anythign from Ike sound, I just ordered my headunit from them

Get a mono block amp with class D technology, these are best for subs. For two subs all you need is a mono(single channel) amp bridged.

I have used the infinity reference line before. For over 2 years. Loved em' actually. Cost me $150 2 years ago and they paid me back plus some. I was giving them 100 Watts RMS per side. You can get them now for $93 a set. Great set for the cash. Haven't had any experience with the kappa components though. I would think they would be roughly the same.

Can't say enough about ikesound. great prices. great service. Worry not!

If you can spare a even a tad more $$$$ for an amp, then I recommend getting an amp with a little more bells and whistles. The JBL amps are great! But they don't come with a subsonic filter and the crossover leaves much to be desired. Wait a minute...... check out the Lanzar Vibe 1200D. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18797 I know! I know! It's Lanzar! But that line has been proven many times to put out the rated power PLUS they come with more features then the JBL's PLUS they are a little cheaper....... (Quick note: puts out max power at 1 ohm) It's up to you. But if you are on a budget, check out the Lanzar. If not, let me know and I can give you some more recommendations.

If you want more then one sub, you just wire them together. This only applies for subs!!! How you wire them together determines the load your amp will see. (2 ohms, 4ohms, 1 ohm etc.) The main reason dual voice coil subwoofers were invented was to give the user greater flexability when wiring the subs to the amp. You just treat each voice coil like a whole seperate woofer.

Example: You have two 4 ohm single voice coil subwoofers. You wire them together in parallel to make the amp see a 2 ohm load.\

Example: You have two 4 ohm dual voice coil subwoofers. You wire the two voice coils on each subwoofer together to give a 2 ohm load AND THEN wire the two subwoofers together to give a final load to the amp of 1 ohm.

You see? LOL!
