custom dash swap
custom dash swap
i know this may not be the correct place to ask this question but i dont know where to look for help. im installing a dash out of a 96 firebird into my 79 camaro and i need to know how i would go about making the speedo function correctly. if i were to adapt the correct vehicel speed sensor and reluctor ring onto my trans, could i just run the wire/wires into the connector on the back of the instrument cluster. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: custom dash swap
You need to supply an electronic pulse to the wires on the dash via an Electronic speed sensor.
The 4th gen f-bodies use a 4000 pulse/mile ratio for the speedo to be on.
THe only issue you may have with the correct sensor and wheel is for the gear ratio out back, thus the information that I gave you in the previous post.
It could get complicated, but if you take the gear ratio, and tire size into count, you might be ok.
