Question Convertable owners....

Have any of you changed you rear speakers? I've heard from somewhere that you have to be careful of how big the magnet is so it wont mess with the top going down. Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, you do have to watch out for that. I got some spacers that moved the speaker out about 3/4" to 1" which gave me plenty of room. This pushes the side trim panels out a little bit at the top but it is hardly noticeable.

I have Infinity Beta Five's for my rear fill. I don't think that you can get them anymore

I got the "Depth Extender Rings" from MCM Electronics
www.mcmelectronics.com
1-800-543-4330

They have two parts

#60-635 - 1/2" thick, fits 5 1/4" speakers
#60-630 - 1" thick, fits 6" and 6 1/2" speakers.

I think (but can't remember for sure) that I used the 1" thick pieces because the Infinity Beta series was a "professional" series and the sizes were larger than conventional (i.e. the Beta Five was larger than a 5 1/4" speaker).

I got the info from a old catalog but the 1/2" was $7.49/pair and the 1" was $13.99/pair. I couldn't find them on their web site, if you give them a call the catalog that I have is Catalog 43 and has a source code on the back of PM1099.
