confused about a wire coming out of my new stereo?
I bought a Pioneer DEH-P8400MP and there's a Blue/White wire with a plug on it, I guess its called the system remote control, Dose it need to be hooked up?
One more thing What type of wire is best for runing from the battery to the amp?
Thanks for any help.

What type of wire really depends on the amp, that will determine the size. I typically get my install kits from www.knukonceptz.com.
the Blue/White wire maybe the remote-turn of for your amp(s). Some are blue, some are blue with a white stripe, depends on the brand.

i wish mine had a remote thing maybe it does....
my amp and stuff is hooked up to the radio fuse and that way i get a loud thump when i turn off my car because the feedback goes thru it....
so defintly wire your amp thru that to avoid what is happening to me right now

The only time that wire should "burn out" on you is if you are pulling too much current through it. The head units usually only send like 300mA out on the wire, so if you maybe had more than two amps or some Neons in addition to the amp(s), then that's what did it. It's usually best to install yourself a relay near the amp and use the remote turn on from the head unit to turn on the relay which gets it's primary power directly from the battery. that will ensure that your head unit isn't damaged by pulling more than 300mA on the remote turn on
Wiring the amp remote turn on to an ignition switched connection isn't wise, because then you amp will run even if the radio is off when the key is on...
and FYI: Pioneer remote turn-ons are blue with a white tracer. I have installed many of them in cars over the years and they have always been the same for me.
