Question ? concerning Millhouse box and L7 12's

I found a guy whose got a pair of L7 Kicker 12's for $225. They're brand new and never mounted. I've seen a sub box called the Millshouse in the apperance section, and was wondering if the L7's would fit in that box? Would they sound good, and if the box wasn't designed for those subs, could they maybe work in it anyway? Not too familar with car audio, but would like a good system in my car without going to a shop and spending lots of $$$$! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Andrew
By the way, who makes the Millhouse? I don't visit this forum to often, so I may be the only clueless one in here. Thanks for the help.

I happen to be the maker of the Milhouse boxes. However I cannot put two 12" subs in them. Those subs are simply too heavy. I've done a single 12" L7 plenty of times. Even dual 10" L7s. But if want a pair of the 12s, you'll need either a stationary box on the rear deck or a well box. They word great in a well box. Look around my site for pics. LS1Rulz left the link above, but it's also in my sig.

Honestly i wouldn't throw a single L7 in a box as small as the millhouse box, much less a pair. Your best bet is to get another type of box made. The L7 needs a hell of a big box to get sounding good, and the milhouse just can't be made that big. i have heard that 3 cubes ported with a SQ tune is the best way to go, but i have only heard them sealed.... and they all sounded crappy, they really do need a big box to excell.

Funny, I've been told the opposite about the L7s in larger boxes. Some guys tell me that when placed in larger boxes, they get very sloppy, so it's difficult for me to imagine how 3 cubes ported would sound. Guess it's just their opinion or maybe it doesn't matter when you're going for spl. I'd like to hear that for myself so I can be the judge.

For me, I've only heard the L7s in 1.5 cubes sealed. But they sounded pretty good--for a non sq sub at least. If I was gonna put 12" L7s in my car I'd probably do the same since I am not a fan of ported boxes.

The milhouse box can be made to accomodate an L7 quite well. The box has more air than most people think. Most guys are simply astonished how this thing sounds and has outplayed larger boxes on a couple of occasions.

Here's couple testomonials

I still say that a pair would never fit in the Milhouse, and the bigger box is for sealed. It takes a 20 cube box to get the QTC down to an acceptable level, and with a pair 40 cubes is just absurd, that is why i recommended a ported box. It is definatly not a sealed box sub (for an ideal enclosure) most people that i know that have had them liked them in 2.5-3 cube ported boxes. Personally i would NOT consider them at all if i had to run them sealed.

I knew you didn't like them much. But I've been talking about a single sub, not a pair. But if what you say is true, then why are they still called a small box sub? Hence the continued "solobaric" designation. Kicker recommends (.8 to 2.0 cubes sealed I believe). Why would they have these specs? Your thoughts...

The first three generation of Solobarics were designed for small sealed applications. When we introduced the new L7's, they work in small sealed, but excel in larger ported applications. Stick and L7 12" in a 2.0 sealed box, it'll sound great, stick it in a 3.25 vented box, and it'll be loud!

So, back to my problem, if I could get the guy to split up the pair, and put one in the Millhouse, would that sound good? I've only heard this sub once, at a car show, and one 12 L7 beat everything else that was entered in the SPL contest. I'm not really worried about being loud, I just want good, clean, deep bass, that I'll be proud of when its all done. I definetly like the box, I just want a it to sound good, and don't want to put a sub in something that it wasn't intended to be put it. Thanks

A single 12" HX2 is fine. In fact, chameleon green is running a 12" brahma (40lbs) in his milhouse.
