Check out my amp rack/box

Made it myself. Took awhile to get it done. I used a heat gun to form the vinyl around the letters and the bird. Here is all that I used for it...

-3/4" MDF
-Vinyl
-Contact cement
-Cardboard (for letters)

Let me know what you think.

I love it!!!!

You did a top notch job, and the bird and letters look like a pro did em. I'm designing mine for my 2000 now, so any tips you could give me would help. And carboard came out looking like that? I thought it was a wood template underneath.

Thanks! Yup, cardboard worked nicely. It wasn't like most cardboard where it was 1/8" thick and flimsey...it was 1/4" thick and very strong.

I printed off the emblems on paper and glued them to the cardboard then cut them out with an exacto knife. Then glued the pieces to the box. Then i coated the emblems and box with glue and covered with vinyl. I used a heat gun in the crevices of the emblems to help the vinyl stretch and stick inbetween the letters and parts of the bird. It worked very well.

I used 3M General Trim Adhesive (#08088) that I picked up from Wal-Mart. It's some good stuff. I also just used a razor blade to trim the vinyl on the edges and also a staple gun to hold the edges of vinyl on the bottom of the lid and on the bottom of the box.

Hope this helps ya. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

-Josh
