can you hook up dual batteries
can you hook up dual batteries
do i need to buy a dual battery wiring kit to do this or can i simply attach the second battery to my remote mount starter solonoid? will it be to much work for my alternator to keep two batteries charged? im looking for more power for starting/stereo/tv/playstation ect. i have two red top optimas. mine and i bought one from a friend and it seems like a shame to have one just chillin in the garage when my volts drop to 12 when im sittin at a light with my buds bustin out games/movies at full volume...... thanks for the help
Re: can you hook up dual batteries
What type vehicle are you dealing with?
Where do you plan on sticking this extra battery?..if you have voltage problems at idle, chances are you are developing altenator/wiring connection (corrosion) problems..or you may need to get a higher output altenator
yes you should be able to hook the positive to the remote start relay. just be sure to run the ground to the same ground location for the other battery...

90 iroc l98
have one trunk mounted optima
was going to mount the other battery in the stock location..
the alternator and wiring are perfectwith no voltage drop between them even all the way to the trunk..the problem seems to be to many electrical items at once. its not that im having device power issues i just want a higher reserve (engine off time) and to not have my system working so hard..so hooking the (new) Engine compartment batt to my remote mount starter solenoid shouldn't be a problem for my alternator to keep both batts charged????
