I am buying a stock `98 Monsoon HU with CD player, and I was wondering if it will plug right in to my 95 Formula that has the AM/FM/Tape 7band EQ HU. Will everything be alright as long as I dont add the Monsoon amp? It doesnt have to be a crackin system, just want to be able to play CD`s and have it sound decent, atleast as good as it sounds now with the radio. Thanks.

 

I just looked at the head unit in the car now and it says "Delco". Is this going to be a problem?

I don't think it will work. Doesn't the Monsoon have a separate amp, while the Delco has a built-in amp?

 

Does that mean that all outputs are line level outputs, or are they at all amplified? If I do get the Monsoon amp, do I need to replace the speakers?

I plugged it in yesterday, and it seems to work just fine. I compared the Delco and Monsoon head units, and they look exactly alike except for the faceplate of course. The Monsoon HU even had the same "Delco Electronics" sticker on it.

i have a pontiac monsoon cd deck in my '95 Z which has the stock Bose system.

my aftermarket kenwood stopped working one day, so i'm borrowing my buddies CD player in the meantime while the kenwood gets fixed under warrenty
