Buddy poked a tiny hole in speaker......how bad is it?

He was installing his midbass speakers in his TA and the screw gun slipped and he poked this TINY lil hole in the surround, no more than 1/8 of an inch. My question is: How bad is it? I told him it wasn't bad at all, and that if he used a tiny piece or electrical tape on both sides he'd be fine. Any ideas?

Forget the electrical tape. Use a small dab of silicone instead.

So it can be saved? If so, what kind of silicone?

Tape is bad. Use silicone if anything.

Why is tape bad? Also, which silicone should he use?

Tape will lose it's tackiness and fall off eventually. I don't know what you mean by "which silicone" you should use. As long as it doesn't melt the surround it doesn't matter what kind you use.

Along with eventually falling off it hurts the movement of the surround along with the cone. Its not as bad as duct tape on a 10" sub...but you get the idea.

I have some clear silicone, is that what you recommend? Should I have him dab it on both sides?
Thanks

LoL! Sorry man, I am just being careful before I try something. It's not my speaker, don't want to permanently f*ck it up! Humor me, clear silicone caulk, on both sides of the lil hole? Or one side? And should I dab it on or smear it on? (not smear like put a ton on, just rub it on with my finger). How long to let it cure?
Thanks guys, lol

The speaker is already F'd up so just silicone the thing and hope for the best. Just use the stuff sparingly.
