Box for my E12A /// Switch to E10O ???
Box for my E12A /// Switch to E10O ???
I have a E12A in a cheap Wal-mart Hatchback Box. I need to get this in a stealthbox. I have thought about this a lot and I defiantly want it in the driverside. If I can get a driverside stealthbox made in fibergalss for a good price, I'll want to keep my E12A. Otherwise I will switch to a 10" O-Series or possibly an A-Series. Either way its gotta be Elemental Designs.
What do you guys think?
I will be defiantly buying an amprack from subthump.com but not sure what to do with the box.
I want to keep the original T-Top Storage
I want to keep Spare Tire/Jack
I want everthing behind the stock Flip Cover
It must apear stock
I want as much space in the well as possible
I have looked at the low-profile convervatible box but I would have to custom fab up a thirdgen style T-Top Storage. I would rather not do this becuase It takes up the whole well. I like to store stuff back there when the Tops are on the car.
I also looked at the T-Top Box but that takes up too much room and way too much airspace for my sub! I am not sure though cuase it says up to 2.2 cF I will ask Steve though. Also about the amp space underneath the box.
The Milhouse box isn't my style and goes away from the stock thing I wanted. I want to keep the stock flip-cover. Even the carpeted version looks out of place.
The passenger side stealthbox oviously takes the spare/jack out so thats a no-go.
That leaves a driverside stealth but from my research I'll need a fiberglass stelath to fit my 12" sub. I also need a 6.625" mounting depth which shouldn't be a problem. Preferably as close to a 1.0 cF airspace as possible.
Any Opinions? If I switch to a ten I'll look at others as well, such as the Brahma, IdMAX or a RE XXX, maybe a few others as well.
It appears the easiest thing would be to get a 10" and go for the subthump driverside stealthbox.
I might have a buyer lined up fro my E12A/Cheap Wal-mart Box combo lined up for $225 cash which I might go for. I have $360 in the combo alone and have used in for about 3-4 months so I quess its not too bad of a loss.

I would try to keep the e12A, that is an awesome sub. I know a 12" fiberglass box can be built to go in the driver's side, but I have never done fiberglass myself. It would probably be expensive to have a shop do it, but ask around anyways. If you want to take the time to learn and do it yourself, there are tons of tutorials out there on the web.
I have seen a couple pictures of a 12" fiberglass built for that driver's side cubby, but I can't remember where. Try searching around for who it was that built those. If you can get it touch with them, you can find out any issues they had, and what they would change if the did it again. I know one guy was selling his 12" fiberglass box not too long ago.
Good luck

i would also keep the 12A and get a box made for it.... even in a box a lot smaller than 1 cube will still be great. The artical in Mobile Entertainment magazine had it in a .7 cube box and it had a better frequency response than a W7.

The drivers side cubby area will get you around .7 cubes of airspace and after you take out the .2 or so that the driver takes up you'll have around .5 or so cubes left.
Also keep in mind that if the E12A is like the Brahma, it's actually around 12.5 to 13" high so the panel will have to go up some if you build a fiberglass box to fit in that area and it's tricky to get the sub lined up 100% because you also got to keep in mind that the magnet is pretty large in diameter. I know it's not as deep as the Brahma but it might be as issue getting it to fit against where the wheel well is at with the rubber thing that goes around the magnet maybe rubbing on the front side of the box. Fitting a Brahma in that area is a tight fit but it can be done. It's amazing just how much space is not left inside that box after you put a big sub like a Brahma in there. Did it once and it amazed me.
