Bose upgrade? System?
Bose upgrade? System?
Hey I have a '96 Camaro RS with the Bose Upgrade in it. I was told that I was unable to put a system into the car without it costing me out the @$$ (compared to putting one in a car without the Bose upgrade). Could any of you help me here and tell me what would need to be done OR if this is even possible!
I dont know hardly anything about systems and electronics so Im basing my beliefs off of you guys!

Re: Bose upgrade? System?
It depends what you want to do. You can buy virtually any head unit/radio and use a special adapter made to interface with the bose system.

Buying a new headunit isn't going to get you better sound, for that you need to upgrade your speakers.
If you want to change your speakers, you will have to run all new wires, as from what I understand, the Bose system uses special Amps per speaker or some dumb thing. So you would have to run new wire from your amp/head unit to each speaker location. Now if whoever is installing this is telling you its going to cost a whole lot more than installing a normal amp, they are probably ripping you off as they will have to run all new speaker wire to connect to the amp anyways.

This is what the bose system looks like, there are 3 amps, 2 amps in each door probably run the 4 front and rear speakers, and an amp and sub in the back.
