Angry Bose Speakers?

OK, I have a '94 Z28 with the factory Bose stereo CD. I have unfortunately blown the passenger side speaker. It is scratchy, hisses and at times gives off an irritating noise. I priced a new one with the dealer and they quoted me $400!!!! That is way too much, even for a speaker with an amp. Plus the dealer said that Chevy recommends replacing the speaker in pairs to ensure "proper sound balance." The old speaker is slightly torn and may be repairable and he directed me to a sound shop "Short Circuit" in the San Jose, CA area. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions that can save me a little money and get this problem fixed?

I had to replace both the door speakers in my car and I think it only cost me 100 to replace them both. I did get the speakers at cost too. There is no way it would cost 400. I also have the bose system in my car.

Did you get the Bose speakers from the Chevy dealer, and did they come with the amps as well?
