Blown Speakers

Hello guys, I'm trying to decide what to do about 2 blown speakers that I have. I figure I might as well replace all the speakers while I'm at it. I have no clue whats going on when it comes to electronics so I'll try to keep this simple. I don't want to have to go splicing wires and adding this and that. Does anyone know where I could just get some cheap speakers that would fit right in? I don't have the Monsoon system, but the car does have a factory CD player, no tape player.

Thanks.
Chris

Re: Blown Speakers

Just pick up some 6.5 coaxials, CDT makes some nice cheap coaxials as well as infinity, check out thezeb.com and sonicelectronix.com, it should be a drop in in stall no crazy wiring

Re: Blown Speakers

Ok those prices are for pairs, those are both nice speakers personally I am a fan of CDT they make some awesome high end stuff and there more entry level/basic speakers really shine in my opinion I have moved away from alpine speakers having not liked them... but thats only my opinion. This is where it gets complicated when u mentioned the rears as in the hatch area... personally I wouldnt touch them, honestly you really arent hearing much music from them as it is, and by adding speakers you would have 3 sets which will create a lower ohm handling then ur deck is designed for and in time it will damage ur cd player and cause it to constantly overheat... this works factory cause the speakers have a weird ohm rating... but honestly I think by just replacing the front and rears and unhooking the rears it should sound alot nicer... maybe some others will chime in i have more bose/monsoon experience but i believe by replacing the rears with a standard speaker you will have problems with your factory deck or an aftermarket one for that matter

Re: Blown Speakers

All right cool, I'll just unplug the backs, I think your right about not really being able to hear them anyway. One more question though, I took out one of my stock speakers and it just unplugs and has a weather pack connector. When I get the new speakers I guess there gonna have two bare wires, do i just splice them into the two wires in the car, and remove the weatherpack?

Thanks Pentavlovo, you've been a big help, I really appreciate it!!!!

Re: Blown Speakers

if you go to ur local circuit city or car electronic place they can sell u a special connector but in my opinion its a waste of money just hack the connector off and be on your way... i can get u the polaritys if u cant find it on your own. get me the year and i can tell u which are pos and which are negative. make sure to take pictures and post for others with ur experience i dont think enough ppl post on how there upgrades went usually u hear about big upgrades which is great but ppl need to post about smaller upgrades as well... best of luck and let us know what you go with and how u like it
