Blown right sail panel speaker!

I blew the right sail panel speaker (subwoofers i believe on the 97 model, has the 8 speaker system) on my camaro a few days ago. it just rattles like crazy from even small amounts of bass, so I figure it's blown. Anyways, I want to replace it with an upgraded speaker, and do the one of the left at the same time. I have the factory deck and speakers all around. I just want to replace the 2 sail panel speakers with something that will provide good deep, clean bass since that sounds like all that comes from those two speakers. I work at best buy, so hopefully we have something good that I can pickup from them with my discount. Thanks!

Also, after reading some other posts on here, is it worth it to go aftermarket with the stock unit? or should I just buy another factory speaker?

Re: Blown right sail panel speaker!

if you buy an aftermarket mid bass speaker...it has to be 2 ohms......hense lies the problem....most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms.....and they wont be as loud.........there are a few out there, you might have to do a search, or maybe someone on here can give the names of a few models of speakers that are actually 2 ohm.

Another question........ should I just install an 8" sub in place? Only bass comes from the speaker...... so a 2 way would really be no good I would think.
