Kenwood EZ-500 Purchase and Install

So I'm getting ready to purchase one of these and I'm just wondering if it's compatable with my SS's stock Bose system..? Also, what all do I need to install it? I've got a custom bezel coming to surround the hu, but does the EZ-500 come with the harness I need? What harness do I need? Do I need any kind of adapter or anything? Can a guy with no experience look to install this thing?

Thanks,

-John

Re: Kenwood EZ-500 Purchase and Install

A lot of mixed opinions on compatibility of aftermarket units and Bose. A lot of people run it without special adapter (PAC? do a search, can't remember), and it works great. Others recommend to get adapter, as low imput impedance of Bose system can damage outputs of your ne HU.
You will get a one-end harness with new HU, then you can splice some wires or just get a ready harness somewhere.
Something to read:

I would say you will have pinout of HU harness, you can find you Bose HU pinout; if you can be careful and just connect right wires, you can install it.

Any shop I can just take it to and have them install what I have? Does anyone do work like that if you don't purchase the HU from them?
