up to 400 watts total 8 ga should be fine for power and 16 ga for speaker wire.

I use both places that Rthompson suggested...

Plus.. Radioshack for normal 16 ga speaker wire.

Home Depot has some really nice 12/10 gauge speaker wire as well.

Wire is wire. Don't sweat the freaking brand name.

For that little power 16 ga is fine, no need to step up to 12 or 14 ga.

Actually you're wrong, wire is a very important "ingredient" if you will, to a great sounding system.

For power you'll want something thats 24k gold coated and a big enough gauge to carry all your power to your amp.
For speaker wire you'll want wire that is oxygen free, same as your RCAs, again 24k connections.
Battery connection and fuse holder, all 24k.
Remote wire...poop on that b/c it doesn't matter

I will recommend Monster Cable, very expensive but a great way to go if you want it done right!

Granted, wire guage IS important. But thats it. There is NO difference between wires that are the same guage. Anyone that claims to be able to hear the difference between cable brands is fooling themselves.

This is a load of crap. Gold is a poor conductor of electricity. The only reason why gold is used is for it's resistance to corrosion. Even then it is only used for the connections and NOT the wire.

You obviously buy all the crap that advertisers force feed the public. "Oxygen free" doesn't mean a thing once you've stripped away the dielectric from the wire.

LS1 RULZ, I think you may need to brush up on your stuff.

Anyone that claims to be able to hear the difference between cable brands is fooling themselves.

It's not a hearing difference. It's getting power to the source and keeping power to it's fullest potential. Nothing to do w/ hearing.

The only reason why gold is used is for it's resistance to corrosion.

Gold corrodes too, mine did in the engine bay

Even then it is only used for the connections and NOT the wire.

I consider wire and connectors pretty much the same topic and area.

You obviously buy all the crap that advertisers force feed the public.

You obviously don't think before you speak...You don't even know me. Actually I study on it and don't listen to anything advertisers say.

"Oxygen free" doesn't mean a thing once you've stripped away the dielectric from the wire.

Yeaaa.....How do you figure??
What would be the point of selling/buying if it lost "it's oxygen free" ??

Nice "chattin" with ya

I agree with everything LS1RULZ said.

OFC is to reduce corrosion, and over time oxygen will seep into the wire, the ends are porous and will eventually corrode, and the ends that you trim off are just like all other cable.

The reason that gold is used is because it is more resistant to corrosion than other materials like copper.

welding cable for power and lamp cord for speaker wire (as long as it is twisted), just as good as Monster cable power and speaker wire. You want to get RCA's with good ends because the really really cheap ones can sometimes not make good connection after a while.... oh yeah and they have to be twisted. Other than that fogettaboutit.
