best sounding door speakers
best sounding door speakers
just wondering from experience only please!!!!
what components sound best in our front doors?
has anyone built doorpods? if so pics please
i currently have boston rally 6.5's in the rear and
mb quartz dsd 6.5s in the front.
my bostons are sounding awesome but they're killling the quartz, i can hardly hear them, there's no midrange or midbass out of them.
i was told at the local shop the quartz would sounder better in the rear with more airspace.
both sets are receiving the same amount of power, same signals, i don't have any crossovers messing the sound up so don't go there. not that i don't have a crossover, i just know what i'm doing!
please help what would sound better?
ps running highs off directed 500->75x4

Well weak midbass is one of the traits that most people use to describe the MB Quarts (notice the spelling). If the rear speakers are overwhelming the fronts then just turn down the gain on them or take them out..... I personally would take them out.
Pics of pods....

yeah that's what i meant...btw nice job on the pods!!! do you like the sound of them?
as far as ditching the rears or turning gains down, forget it. i want it loud and clean. the fronts are just too weak!!! if anything i'll ditch the fronts, lol.
i like a strong front stage and a weaker rear, the only reason i ran the quartz in front was the tweeter mounting for each. bostons are flat and quarts give the option to slightly angle them, which was good for the doors. i may try some pods as well.

I think he meant crossovers incorrectly set.
And rthompson, what's up with the deer?!

If the reason that you don't ditch the rears is because the fronts aren't loud enough then you need to get more power on them or just get better fronts. Personally i would run the rears off deck power(since you don't wanna chuck them) and bridge that amp to two channels for the fronts.
the problem is they are maxing out, they distort when i turn the gains up at all. with the rears i can raise it more without distortion.
the reason i'm not ditching rears is,
1 i like some rear fill
2 rears are sounding clean, and putting proper sound out
the fronts are just weak, i'm considering buying another set of bostons. the quartz don't make as much sound with the same power.
bottom line is, either the quartz need pods or they need replaced.
