Best components in this price range...

I'm going to be looking for new speakers for the doors soon. I'm putting in trans am door panels, so I'll have room for separate tweeter/mids. I'm trying to not spend too much money on speakers, so I can have more for go-fast stuff, plus they'll be powered only by my pioneer HU for a while. I'm looking for a component system for under $150 ebay money (preferrably more like 100). That's as much as I can justify buying something not performance related right now.

I would like something with some good mid-bass, as I listen to a wide variety of music from hip hop, to rock, to techno.

What brands have the best 6.5 components with tweets that will fit in those trans am panels? Polk? JL? Infinity?

look up djdilliodon on sounddomain.com
look into the CDT CL-62 comp set. Buy, give them at least 75x2 and be HAPPY.

If it's strong mid-bass performance you want you can forget about the Infinitys. I had Infinity speakers at first. I loved the tweeters but the mid-woofers were very poor. I had them hi-passed at 80Hz @18dB/octave and they still distorted badly when I cranked up the volume. I switched to Boston Acoustics and haven't had any problems since.

x2 on the Bostons also. I've used Boston Pros and enjoyed them, though I enjoy my ED comp set WAY more than the Bostons. They're made by CDT for ED, that's why I recommended the CL61, 62s.

Good luck!

WHAT ABOUT ALPINE?????

Check any Car Audio Forum and they'll tell you the best for the buck (and probably the best overall) are Alpine Type-X components. Get them at Crutchfield.com, or from a car audio shop that sells Alpine products.

I have a set in my Camaro convertable, and even with the wind down they kick ***! I have the 5.25", and the midbass is still really nice and tight. If you want to bring the bass forward more, go for either the 6.5" components (best choice) or the 3-way set (more money but really worth it).

One of the best things about them is versatility: You can buy a 2-way set (either the 5.25" or 6.5"), and then later buy the other driver and crossover separately if you want to, and it's exactly the same as going out and buying the 3-way system, but that way you can buy it when you have more money available.

PLUS, I beat a set of Boston Pros in an SQ competition (they were from the Best Buy demo car for the show); the guy even switched to Type-Xs. I'm telling you, they can't be beat. Plus they're cheap -- I bought mine for like $150 from Sound Advice on sale.

Just one last thing: They're not bright speakers. They're really lifelike, with really tight, punchy midbass, but if you want something brighter (emphasize the high frequencies more) I would go with Infinity or MB Quart or something (you can get some MB Quarts for pretty cheap if you shop right).

What about Focal

What about ______.

There are MANY choices out there, get out to your local stereo shops and listen to as many as you can and buy what sounds the best to YOU.

Definately true. I liked a set of Pioneer coaxials better than the $2000 MB Quart components, it's all about your taste.

P.S. Focals are cheap?

My best suggestion is to visit your local audio store and listen to the displays, then revert back to ebay and find your favorites.

The Access and Polyglass line are a affordable alternative to the k2p and utopia's imo.
