battery connection question(it rhymes)lol

i finished my stereo but couldnt hook up the amp power wire to the batter directly because the ring wont fit, i know you can buy an adaptor but was wondering if it was okay to hook it up to the thing the battery connects to in the red plastic prong looking thing(sorry bout the description, thats the best i can do), the battery goes directly too it so i thought it would be okay and then i have one less thing to buy, if anyone knows what im talking about can you tell me if its okay or not, or has anyone done this and had problems?

This is NOT ok! Every bit of power that your car uses (including stereo) will then be connected to that red + terminal. Which, in turn, is connected to the battery by....what?.... a single 8g wire! You will be pulling your car's total current through that single 8g wire, which it just so happens, is not fused. You're asking for a fire!

Yeah dude, don't hook it up to the positive relay. (red box). Just buy the adapter, it should be under $5. I had my two amps hooked up to the relay for a long time because I was to lazy to go to the audio shop when I did my install. Well, jump a year ahead, and I keep wondering why my voltometer is always way to close to the yellow zone. So I finally go buy the adapter, upgrade the alternator-battery charging wire, and what do you know, problem GONE!

Then again, it could have just been all that oxidation I wire brushed off the positive battery ring. Since you're running a 94, you might want to get a wire brush and just clean up all the battery contacts while you're messing with that area.

Make sure that you test fit the adapter when you get it. I broke the terminal on 2 batteries before I realized that the adapter was bottoming out in the threaded hole and cracking the casing of the battery. If yours is too long take it back or do what I did and take a bench grinder to it and shorten it some.
