Audio Dilemma (system?) *T-Tops*

I had a nice setup in my old 98 camaro, I had 2 jl w3 10" subs and an 850w mono amp when I bought it, but that car is long gone, and I no longer have any of that stuff.

Right now I have a 99 camaro, and the 12 disc cd changer doesn't work. I don't really know how much its going to cost to get fixed but from what I've heard (probably wrong) its going to cost me ~$300 to get it working if I took it to a dealership.

But the real problem is.. I don't really want a cd changer in my trunk, I like being able to put cds in from inside my car.

Im really missing my old system with this crap stock system without a cd player, but I have ttop racks in my trunk that I really don't want to give up if I get subs, and I don't have a lot of money to blow on a system right now, I'm only looking to get 1 10 or something kind of low end.

I browsed around and found some posts about subthump's custom boxes, and thats looking like a pretty good option, but I'm still not sure. I have tan leather interior and I don't know if they'd make me a box with tan carpet or vinyl, and I have this feeling that the ttop rack sub mounts are going to slide around in my trunk.

bottom line, how much would it cost me to get a low end system with probably one 10" without losing my ttop racks?

$500?

I could just get a regular deck installed without a cd changer.. but idk if thats what I really want to do.

Search for MTX Thunderforms (I think) I got one years ago and don't know if there still made. I has a single 10 driver with built in amp. The box fits in the area where the cd changer is and its a perfect fit. It looks stock... if you even notice it at all and does not interfere with the t-top mounts. Of course the cd changer must be removed for it to fit. Personaly changers are a PITA and I also prefer a single CD dash player.

Just found this: MTX Site http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...CF10_specs.pdf

Stay away from the low-model MTX subs, they do not sound good at all.

Not sure on depth, but I'm sure you could make a 10" Diamond D3 fit in a stealth box (probally custom made, would have to check depth). Probally one of the best sounding inexpensive 10s I have ever heard.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but newer MTX enclosure with MTX sub, which are sold together, sounds absolutely great, very clean, with a good, properly tuned for enclosure amp. I never measured dB output, but to give you an idea, it will rattle hatch so violently, you won't be able see **** in your rear view mirror.

I've seen 6x9s make your mirror do that. Idk why but every MTX 7500 and under system I have heard sounds like ***.

That should be a hell of an *** you are comparing it too IMHO one 10" of any type/in any box is just too small for a good bass, and is always a compromise of some kind (space, money, weight, etc.)

And that's where I reccomend the Diamond D3 10s, because I have heard them in a very small sealed box with not too much power and they sounded great.
