Amp Placement suggestions
So i ended up buying some subs, an amp, and an enclosure for my Z. Now i want to mount the amp for my subs but i dont know where yet. Its a JL 500/1 and i want all the adjustments to be accesible. Any suggestions would be helpful as would pics.
Thanks,
Fred

Re: Amp Placement suggestions
At one point, I had 3 amps in a "wedding cake tiered" fashion (only way I can think of describing it at the moment). They were all tucked into the "cave" on the driver's side / rear trunk area.
I currently have one amp in the "cave", and another amp on the pass. side of the rear trunk area, just under the flip panel. The big "hole" in the rear trunk area, is filled with subs, BTW. Attached to the sub enclosure is plywood, on either side, cut to fit perfectly. The amps are then mounted to this plywood.
I'd send pics, but I don't have any of the stereo install, and my car is in the shop for it's 383 build-up. I'll be visiting my mechanic tomorrow, though, and could get some pics for ya, if ya want.

Re: Amp Placement suggestions
well i am getting a dual 12 well enclosure from subthump and wont have easy access to the amp if i put it in the hole on the drivers side or passenger side.
Re: Amp Placement suggestions
Ahh, I see. I've got 4 - 10's in a clamshell isobaric setup in the deep hole. The height of the sub box is level with the floor on the sides - and the amps are on either side of the box, but above the height of the box. Hard to describe without a picture.
Re: Amp Placement suggestions
its been a few years since i did it, but i just drilled a small pilot hole where the metal tapping screws were to go in. just make sure you DONT have extra long screws that will go into the tank
