Alternator Q

Well I had been having electrical problems all summer and just as the season was coming to a close my alternator finally showed its true colors and failed on me.

It had been suspected because of constant high pitch feedback coming through my speakers only when the engine was on, and would increase in volume as the RPMs climbed. (I have a 1600W system with 2 x 12" JL Audios, caps.. show car quality)

Now I can get my alt rebuilt here for $100, and for an additional $35 it can be upgraded to pump out 140amps instead of stock (I think 100amps?) OR I can pick a stock alternator off the boards here for around $30 + shipping.

I know I would be risking a future failure of the stock alt but $30 is hard to pass up. Opinions?
