whats the main difference between these two? the jl w7 is like $400 more but is it really worth that price difference? and does anyone have any reviews for either sub?

W7 will out-do in SPL, X in SQ, X over-all. There are much better subs for the money though.

whats fi q 12? and how is the type r 15 better than the type x 12? what would be the best option: one 15" type r, 2 12" type r, or 1 12" type x, or maybe 3 10" type r's

Type-Rs aren't neccisarily better than Type-Xs, just they are cheaper and you can get them damn loud.

Fi is a rather new company from the original owner of RE.....EXTRMELY good subs... www.ficaraudio.com

And to anwser what is best, what Is the most airspace you can give them and power? Without knowing that, I would say Type-R 12s would be the loudest of your list.

Better for the Money.

SI Mag = $430
FI Q = $300 (I think)
Eclipse TI = $330
Soundsteam SPLX = $250

The list goes on...

All of those would blow away the W7 in SQ and have potential to blow it away in SPL (box and power pending).

www.ficaraudio.com
www.low-hz.com or www.audiojunkies.com for the SI Mag (Stereo Integrity Magnum)
www.eclispe-web.com for the Eclipse (SW9122)

The power series is decent, but all the brands I listed are better for the money.

Fi is one of the best sub companys out, they are an exceptionally good sub for the the money.

I'll end my statement with this, their top of the line model fully loaded is $400. Some guy hit a 170.x with a single one of those subs. A single W7 could never hit that, that is a $1000 sub, and there are trucks with several Solo-X subs (Kickers $2000 sub) that barley get into 170 range.

The SQ on any of those subs will blow away the W7. But if you are looking into getting an Fi sub I say get an Fi Q, it has better SQ than the BTL, and will still out beat a W7. They also need a lot less power than a BTL. I would say get a 12" BTL with the biggest box you can get, ported to like 32hz and if you want to save some money a decent hifonics amp to give it at least 1000watts.
