Alpine system upgrade

so heres the thing, for my birthday last year i got the CDA-9807 Alpine deck. so this year i was looking to ask for some new speakers. i have 6X9's in the back and according to the alpine website i have 4X6s in the dash (which i dont like and would like to change size, any suggestions how?). the speakers i were looking at were the type R and S. the prices were:

6X9 type R - $200 - SPR 694A - 200W peak
6X9 type S - $120 - SPS 690A - 250W peak
4X6 type S - $100 - SPS 460A - 125W peak

now is the type R 6X9 that much better than the type S and why does the cheaper S have a higher peak than the R? and is there some other option for going for a better speaker than the 4X6 (also the dealer guy told me about this 4X6 kit speaker that included both a mid and a tweeter speaker in the 4X6 package)? also would getting an small amplifier give me that much better results cuz when i was testing out the speakers at the audio shop the 6X9s were distorting to bass at only 20 volume and i was wondering if an amp would help stop that. the amplifier i was looking at was:

MRD M301 - $330 - 350W, 250W, 150W

i was trying to stay all alpine for my system and that amp that i was looking at would allow me to set up a small sub later on. if you can help at all with advice i'd appreciate it.

you can do a LOT better than alpine for speakers; their subs are a decent budget sub though...

They make a 4x6 replacement plate that containes a 3.5" speaker and a tweeter.. that's about your only choice, unless you feel like fabbing your own mounting plate, and then just about any 3.5" speaker will work.

The external amplifier will help with the distortion, but if you feed too much to the speaker it'll distort no matter what you do.

I don't know which Alpine series is better, but I would go with something else for your "normal" speakers..

You're going to need a 4 channel amp for the surrounds, and if you want to keep it simple, get a 5ch.. .the 5th for your sub later on.

I'm a fan of infinity's Kappa line, they make a VERY good speaker for the $$, especially with the prices on ebay lately..

i'm not a big fan of ebay, i like things new especially things that can be abused like speakers. do you have a website or model suggestions cuz i'm on a budget and i can't go much higher than some of those other listed prices. and i was always told that alpines were good speakers or do they just make good decks?

www.ikesound.com (they sell on ebay as well)

Alpine makes GREAT decks... they make decent Subs... but I've never really delt with there speakers... but I know you can get better for the price...

And thee's TONS of NEW equipment on ebay... I've gotten a LOT of stuff off of there with no problems.. just look for businesses, not people selling...

Try the Infinity Kappa's like I said.. other than that.. in your budget, I'm not 100% sure... I'm sure someone else can chime in on this thread about budget recommendations..
