My last car I went out and ponied up the cash and bought an alpine CDA7842 head unit. That car is gone, and I now have a 2000 Z28...and this head unit staring at me...
So here is my question...would this be an upgrade to the monsoon head unit?
The alpine is from 98/99, is a 50x4 amp, nice in-dash CD player...I know it was absolutely great 4 years ago, but is it still better then my 2000 monsoon unit? I know the monsoons are 'premium' but that's a relative term

 

Yes.. it will be an upgrade...

but there is a PAC adapter that you're going to need to combine the Monsoon amp and Alpine HU together.

 

Do you have any information on that adapter? I know that there is the adapter to get the steering wheel controls to work....
