Hey,
Alpine Type R's, in my opinion, are REALLY REALLY good!!
Do you have speakers in the doors? The Alpine type R 6 1/2's are too deep for the door. I had to use custom kick panels from Q-Logic to get them in my car. Im actually thinking about making my own kicks.
Alpine subs hit hard, go low, and are loud. I found that if you take a box and flip it upside down so the subs are firing into the well, it sounds better and deeper.
Let me know if you need anything!

Considering this set up will only be around $1000 total I think it's a grear deal. I've been a fan of Alpine forever and I really don't believe in mixing nd matching if you can't help it. Alpine was the first system I found where I really don't need to do so...
Yeah I'm getting the kick panels for the components up front anyways, so I guess that worked out in my favor...
Thanks for the replies!

Well, I think there is a way to make them fit. There is a piece of either plastic or thick foam stuff that is in the door. You have to shave a little of it off. The speaker MAY have to be spaced out a little bit. The magnet is pretty big on the Alpines.
When I went to put them in my car, I think i ran into that problem. I just decided to get the custom kick panels instead. I could be wrong though about Firebirds and Trans Am's. Its been awhile since I messed with my setup.
Sorry for any confusion

So.... did you get the Alpine components? Did they fit?
I just bought an Alpine MRV-540, and am looking into getting an inexpensive/good quality set of components... (looking at the 176A)
So whats the news?

I have basically that exact same setup. And yes the components do fit up front with zero modifications. The only difference I have is two MTX 6000 10's.I already had them when I bought all my alpine stuff. You will love the system.I am getting ready to go to school for music production and engineering,so I have to have crystal clear highs, great mids and bass that hits you in the chest. You will love the sound of your system.

I would never do a one company system..... none of the good companies make headunits...

^^Thats very true. JL subs to me are the best Ive heard. Ive never heard of some of those other ones. Comparing sound quality from JL to people like AudioBaun, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer etc... There is no comparison JL destroys them. I like the quality of Phoenix Golds stuff to. Again these are all my opinions.
