Alarm systems

What alarm systems do you guys use? Does anyone have one of those ones where you have a remote that is like a screen that shows a car and indicates when a door is open, alarm was set, what part of the car was knocked, lights on, etc? Similar to this:

I am looking at this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/TRUE-COLOR-LCD-P...QQcmdZViewItem

Check out the video...

Re: Alarm systems

I would personally stick with something from DEI like a viper 791xv if you're wanting an LCD remote. You want to pick something from a company that puts out reliable alarm systems, and most of the offbrands aren't reliable at all. Something to keep in mind though is that 2-way alarm remotes eat batteries like nobodys business. You might want to consider going with an LED remote if you really want a 2-way alarm. The battery would last a little longer since it's not powering a big screen. www.directed.com

Re: Alarm systems

The 791 will work on any car. You just have to have the proper accessory parts for the specific vehicle. For a 94 camaro/firebird you would need to bypass the VATS using a relay and the proper resistor if you want the remote start function to work. Other than that the 791 comes with a 451m doorlock module that can handle the 5-wire lock/unlock system in that car. If you want the viper remote to do hatch pop then you will need a relay for that as well.

I agree I have that in my camaro right now and I love. I"m about to expand it with a motion sensor since I have a bad habbit of leaving my windows down when I'm going to a friends house and the thing about having the alarm go off is someone puts their hands inside the car is very appealing to me.

Re: Alarm systems

I've just got a crimeguard unit that was installed about 4 years ago... it's been great for my car, never had issues.

But... It was installed with some tricks unlike most systems to where it can't be bypassed easially, or without someone hearing you. I also suggest multiple sirens; I run 3 140db sirens on mine personally... Hell, it wakes the neighbors, and everyone else within a 1/4 mile when it goes off.
