I would stick with a DEI product (Viper, Python, etc.) They are the most common, so you would be able to find accessories easily. A good place to buy alarm systems? Go somewhere you trust. It's a known trick for the installer to see that you have a bada$$ stereo and figure out a way to bypass the alarm when he installs it. Then after you get your car and leave, he has his friends bypass your alarm and steal your stereo!

My buddy will be installing it seeing he has worked at H&R block for quite a while. Anyway, what stores are good to buy them at? internet and regular shops. Thanks!

Ok, my bad. DEI does make that one! hehehehe You are interested in the RS3?? The internet is always the cheapest place for eveything, but 90% of them time all warrenties are void. And that goes for anything. Not just alarms. The RS3 is going for about $250 on Ebay. If you can find it for $350 from a local dealer. I'd say get it. Most places included installation on alarms purchased there. So now you have your alarm fully installed with a full warrenty. Warrenty on the alarm itself AND many alarms have theft protection warrenty too!!! $$$$$$$

Got your topic mixed up with that other alarm topic..... hehehe

You were interested in ANY of the clifford Matrix line, correct? Like the other topic, if you can get the RS3 for $400/installed, go for it. What places sell DEI products? Probably just about any stereo/alarm shop. It's, by far, the most common brand of alarm on the market. We have like 90,000 authorized dealers just here on the island on Oahu alone!

Does the RS2 or Rs3 or both do that? i want the remote to also replace the one i have no from the factory.. i can't stand carrying 2 remotes around. Thanks

Just curious, how does working at H&R Block qualify you to install a car alarm.

I have an Alpine alarm system and am happy with it, but as stated above DEI products are good.

The one problem with installing an alarm system is that the manufacturers typicaly don't give you much information with the alarm.

The techs at the shops get a intallation manual that doesn't come with the alarm. I just happened to be buying two systems and told them I wouldn't take them if I couldn't get the manual. They let me borrow it and I ran over to work and made copies.

I suppose the information is probably on the internet somewhere.

He used to install car phones, alarms, radios and all sorts of stereos as his job. Next there is an alarm that alerts someone that they are to close to the car. it will literally talk and tell u. I WANT ONE. does anyone know which one it is!

Here is a link to read up on the RS3. I don't know if it talks, I kinda doubt it. It's really a pointless feature and just adds on to the overall cost. Not many alarms talk now adays.

viper used to make alarms that talked. this was in like 1993. I had one, it was cool for about a month, then it was annoying. Then it got even more annoying. Of course I don't have it any more, but over all the whole talking alarm thing is kinda lame. To me, it sounds like something that belongs on a Mitsubishi type R. Of course that's just my opinion, but the novelty will not last long in either case. Nothing like telling every theif that's interested exactly what alarm you have. At least with a chirp or two, they'd have to guess. To each his own and if a talking alarm makes ya happy, get one. This is just my experience.
