Question I Am Looking For A Nice System...

I am looking for a nice sound system but not too expensive. I would like to get two ten inch Alpine subworfers and a Legacy Amp. Any ideas of what i should get?
Thanks

Go

legacy, pyramid, jensen, and a few other amps are straight junk.
Go with a mtx or preferably a jl audio 250/1 or 500/1.

Agreed. How much power you looking for? The JBL BP600.1 is one of the best buys out right now. For more power, step up to the BP1200.1 or check out the Lanzar VIBE 1200D. Yes, yes I know it's Lanzar, but this line actually has benched at rated power! That 1200WRMS for $225! And it has both HP and LP crossovers..... unlike the JBL's. Which Alpine subs are you planning on?

stay away from legacy amps....go with JL audio amps...JL audio subs IMO are the best subs around for linear sound, alpine amps, kenwood excelon amps....ADS digital amps , although very pricey, if you want good clean sound your gonna have to put up the money, as the old saying goes you get what you pay for

No Alpine Subs

Get a JL Audio Amp and a JL Audio Stealth Box. I just did in my 99Z along with Mb Quart Components in the door. I couldn't be happier!

The JBL 600.1 should be plenty of power to power two Alpine subwoofers. It's the cheapest (but still quality) amp around right now.

For front stage, components are a must. Check out www.cbrstereo.com . They have some great prices. You can get a good quality set for about $150. For rear speakers (if you like rear fill) get a simple mid-bass/range speaker. Such as the Kicker RMB6. Look under Kicker, then subwoofer, then its at the bottom of the page. $99/pair You'll want a 4-channel amp to power them. I'd say something with at least 50WRMSx4.

I have to disagree with you on a lot of counts....

JL Audio Amps are overpriced for what you get out of them.

JL Audio subs are very nice, but nothing worth paying more than other brands for. Personally i would swap out a W3 for an E12K, Shiva, Alpine Type R.... etc. Just not worth paying the premium for the JL name. I havn't had the pleasure to hear the W7, but there are a lot of just as qualified subs that will fit the bill, and some may even be better for a particular situation.

As far as getting a clean sound because of an amp... UGGG. An amp plays a very MINOR role in how clean sounding the music is. did you ever notice the THD on amps is in the .05-.1 range on most class A/B and under 1% on class D amps. It is a proven fact that humans can not detect distortion under 10% in the frequencies that subs are supposed to play and 2% in the range that tweeters play... seriously power is going to make the biggest difference in sound, brand makes very little. just make sure the amp doesn't clip and it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between two amps if they are putting out similar power.

i agree keep the Alpine subs as long as they are the type R or S line.

What voice coil configuration do the Type-R's have? Dual 2 ohm? Dual 4 ohm? That is important to know when chosing an amp. If they are dual 2 ohm, you will want an amp that puts out max power at a 2 ohm load. If they are dual 4 ohm, then you will want an amp that outputs max power (and is stable) at 1 ohm. Are you planning on buy the amp over the net? Or from a local store?
