$400 for the alarm AND installation correct? Yeah, that's no TOO bad. I don't know how much that alarm costs, but installation is usually free with purchase. I'd check around and see if he is charging you extra for installation..... or if that's just how much the alarm costs.

You're interested in the RS3, correct? The one with all the bells and whistles? Ok, I checked Ebay and it's going for about $250. You figure:
$250--alarm
$20-- shipping
$100--installation for alarm w/ remote start, starter kill, etc.
$time you have to wait during shipping
Total=$370 installed. And chances are you will still get no warrenty on the gear because you didn't buy it from an authorized dealer (that's Ebay for ya ) You may get the theft protection coverage if you get it installed by an authorized dealer. I don't know.

Or you could spend the $400/installed and get it right away, 100% no BS, full warrenties......

If the $400 includes installation, go for it.

Here is a link to a near new RS3 for $275. Which is an outstanding deal for an alarm with 2-way LCD remote's. You figure a few buck for shipping and $100 for install, puts you damn near $400. So I would easily pay the extra couple of bucks and get it installed at an authorized dealer. If you are indeed getting the RS3, then I think you are getting a hell of a deal, go for it. But $400 for that advance of an alarm.... hmmmmm...... I kinda doubt it. It may not be the RS3....

No way in hell. The website says 1/4 mile under optimum conditions..... in other words, you won't even get that.

was just looking on ebay and see the viper 790xv or whatever for around 200,, same as rs3. guy said he will install whatever i get .. he had cheaper ones that were the same but he said i should get the rs4... do you have one in your car, is it worth 400bucks for a alarm or just get a cheap one with remote start for like 250?

The only thing the more expensive alarms have is convenience accessories. Your remote start, keyless entry, etc. The RS3 has a 2-way LCD remote. The car sends out a signal that tells you when the alarm is going off. That's why it's called "2-way" because the remote and brain can communicate back and forth. Does this add any extra security? Maybe if your remote gives you a signal your alarm is going off and you run out there with a baseball bat....... and probably start swinging at a damn cat or something. But really......... no added security, like the starter kill feature, shock sensors, etc. In my opinion, just get one with these couple features.... and keyless entry. (cause that's a VERY VERY convenient feature) Should be no more then a couple hundred bucks.
