Aftermarket headunit has no bass?

I heard that when you put an aftermarket headuniut on our cars that the speakers have no bass. Why does this happen? My speakers sound like crap.

Re: Aftermarket headunit has no bass?

What kind of speakers are you talking about? I put a pioneer p860 in mine and the bass is much better than stock(talking about components of course). I don't know why you need bass from the speakers in your doors anyway. Andif you're talking about subs thenall the headunit does is send the signal to the amp, and if you are running a sub off your headunit don't expect much bass anyway.

I think that about covers all the options...

If you have the bose system(would help to put the year of camaro in sig), you should have good bass. Signal should hit the amp from HU.

Re: Aftermarket headunit has no bass?

you cant use an aftermarket headunit with factory bose speakers. there are several filters build into the wiring and also the speakers run at different ohms, which aftermarket headunits cant handle. they make a wiring harness to correct this problem, but i heard it sounds like crap and its a waste of time and money. if you want to upgrade the headunit, you will need to replace the speakers and wiring as well.

Thats what I am talking about. I have only had my car for 4 months I dont know what kind of speakers it has, but there are only 4. All I know is that it does not have a factory headunit in it, it has a kenwood and the speakers all sound like crap..no bass at all. So do I have to buy a regular head unit to get bass back? Or will buying new speakers fix this?

This is inacurate. You can use aftermarket HU with bose speakers and you donot need harness. Of course they all tell you that you need a harness to do this. NOT TRUE. There is a post in this forum in which I described how to do it and people had no problems with it. I had no issues with sound quality. In fact, I am still running my BOSE door speakers and woofer with my current system today. Only replaced the sail speakers.
