What does everyone think would be the best for the money?

Dual Alpine Type-R 12's

Dual Adire Shiva 12's

Single Adire Brahma 12

Single IDMAX 12

SPL and SQ of equal importance!

My friend has dual Alpine Type-R DVC 4-ohm 12" subs in his mustang running off a RockfordFosgate 800.2 Plenty loud and very crisp. You can't beat the price on these either if you shop on Ebay, two can be had for $180-210. Depending on the amp you have, you might want to look at the DVC 2-ohm subs.

I voted Alpines for a several reasons. First, two R's will run you less $$ than one Brahma. Not sure about the ID, but it's probably up there with the brahma pricewise. Second, The alpines will work in a smaller (less expensive and lighter) box than the shivas. And lastly, I'm pretty sure you'll get as many or more dbs out of two type R's than one brama or IDmax.

He just wants to sell you a dual box versus a single box. jk I bought an amp rack through subthump and I was very happy with it.

I personally would put these choices in this order...
1) ID Max
2) Brahma
3) Type-R
4) Shiva

The ID Max is a great sub, and so is the brahma. I think you will be more than happy with either of them. You will also would probably like the type-r subs.

You can read a good review of the ID Max here.
You will also find good reviews out there on the brahma.

I think you should head over to www.elitecaraudio.com and ask this same question. You will get a larger response there.

Actually I do occaisonally post on that site, I might just do that.

Don't worry megabass, more than likely will be buying one of your T-Top boxes regardless of the sub choice

Had them all in my car, the Brahma is a really smooth deep and punchy sounding sub. The Max is a little more lively, and a lot more efficient than the Brahma unless you put a good amount of power to them then the Brahma catches up (less power compression). The Shivas and Type R are nice subs but in a proper installation the single Max or Brahma will be just as loud and take up less space.... but you gotta have 1000 watts.

i have 1500 posts at Elite... and have only been there maybe three times the last year... the bandwagoning there is sickening.
I much prefer soundillusions.net and caraudiofurum.com

I am around many of these product all day long and I think from my experience my vote goes with the IDMax. I have heard many times of Shiva being compared to Idq. If that is the case a max has the ability to be louder than two Idqs. The cone is lighter and it is more efficient. The Brahma is very comparable to the Max but if you plan to run less than 1000 watts I would not choose that one. I had four Type R and while they were loud they can touch the Sq of the Max. I've had my Max in 1cuft sealed and 2 cuft ported and it was awesome in every box. I even scored a 145.3 with one in the rear of my Camaro in the ported box off Xtant power.

I have a brahma 12 in a 1.3 cubic foot or so passenger side friberglass stealthbox powered by a 1000Wrms Orion amp. Sound is awesome! Not as good as 2 brahma 12's and 2400Wrms like my old setup, but it still does the job, more so than most of my friends can handle. Being thoroughly happy with the Brahma in my car I voted for that........However, the only other sub that I have heard in that list is the Shiva.

How much power were you using and which box config. were you running at the time with the IDMAX? (also, did you do like dbdrags when you got that 145.3?) Wondering for I'm looking into getting some IDMAX's in my car and was curious about more details of your set up when you did the 145.3.

My vote goes towards the IDMAX. Heard enough of them to know that they are a good sub. The Brahma does okay but being in the 1-600 watt class doesn't allow me to give that Brahma enough watts since that thing really does like power not being as efficent as other subs on the market.

I've wondered if you were still around. I use to see you post on ls1.com about how you were hearing voices from your subs, right? Are you still hearing voices? I mean, from your sub that is!

box was 2 cuft ported to 35hz. small box for a Max but I designed it for a IDQ anyway it worked. the amp was a 1001dx rated at 250 at 4 ohm, 1000 at 1 ohm. I am a SQ guy not an SPL freak but I was talked into competing at this event. I cranked my amp up and changes a crossover point and the rest is history. The score was measured at the glass with the car closed up. The car in the next lane had two ported earthquake ***** 12s and 1200 watts. I edged him by a little over 1db. Needless to say he was pissed. He wanted to go again but I already had the trophy so whats the point.

No...........but I have a new problem. While tuning it I noticed that at higher volumes its doing that 'slapping' thing again. Again, this is with the hatch open. With it closed I can't really tell cuz its loud as f*ck. Any ideas?? And another weird thing, I have it wired at 1 ohm (at least I think I do, followed the wiring diagram) but using a voltmeter it measure 2.8 ohms at the amp.......weird stuff always happens to me. But yeah, Brahmas rule!
Brian
BTW, nice to know someone cares, lol!

Well, the slapping thing I don't know what to say about that, maybe it's the leads still slapping cause you are pushing the crap out of that thing! ha ha If you aren't hearing it in the cabin area then it's probably not as much of an issue but if you are really concerned about it I'd email Dan Wiggins (prez of Adire Audio) and ask him about it. I have his email address somewhere so just ask if you'd like to know it.

Nah, not beating the crap out of it........maybe its hitting one of the wires speaker wires. Not sure, or maybe its just that it has too much airspace with the hatch open.......when its closed it behaves better. Oh well........something to do over Thanksgiving break.
