Adding to factory alarm

Is there anyway to add a proximity sensor (think thats it) to my factory alarm on my 96 SS. I want to be able to leave the TTops off and when someone sticks there hand in the top or through the window it will go off. I've seen these on Wranglers and need one! Is that what theyre called and if so whats a good one?

You may want to consider buying a whole new alarm system as it is.

There are many alarms out there that offer both proximity (When someone get's too close to the car it starts chirping, or talking like Arnie or whatnot). There are also some that have Radar (Sends radar throughout the interior of your car, and if there is a disturbance it goes off).

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not alarm genius

Proximity and radar are the same thing. I don't think you can add to the factory alarm. You'd have to buy an aftermarket alarm.

Why would you want to park your car with the t-tops off? It doesn't take much for some jealous ******* to toss a drink in your car.

yes you can. i did it to mine. go to the bcm and locate the door pin wire splice in just remember to use diodes on both lines to the sensors. then i got a large solenoid off a power winch and made a switched ground to power the sensor when the car is off.i've had it in there for two years now not a problem.total cost was about $30.00 for the sensor $12.00 for a solenoid and maybe $10.00 in misc parts and wires.by the way i talked to many sound shops none of them said it could be done or they just wanted to sell me a $400.00 alarm. good luck if you got questions call 1 509 701 8659 thats my cell.
