97 z28 audio questions

ok i got two questions
1 i was told that wiring the high inputs on an amp would produce bad sound quality is this true or was the guy just trying to sell me more stuff?

2 i just got the car about 3 weeks ago the security light is on all the time i was told it came on after they put an aftermarket radio in could this be true and if so how can i fix this problem?

thanks for any response

Answer to question #1 yes and no really depends on the quality of the audio equipment that you
have purchased ... I would recommend that you use rca's
#2 when I changed out the radio in my 96 the light did not appear

Re: 97 z28 audio questions

#1 - High Level Inputs typically require a "Line Level Converter" in order to adjust the gains. Some amps can handle this level of input, some just RCAs. I prefer not to go that route though, as your essentially amplifying a signal that's already been amplified, so technically not a clean signal and much more opportunity for distortion.

#2 - If wired correctly you should not have an SES Light. There could be something dumb like a crossed wire, or it may have nothing to do with the Stereo Install. Without the code it's like throwing darts blindfolded... You should probably scan the code to determine what it points to as in issue.

Someone probably botched the install on the radio, and that's why the security light is on.

ok i pulled the radio got a new harness and reinstalled still got the ses light all the audio shops in town say the car should take the standard cheap harness nothing special so im not sure and my scanner will not do security system codes and the dealer wants $130 just to scan it which i think is way to much

SES and Security light are not the same. Few consumer grade scan tools will do anything with the Security light.
