I have a 1995 firebird with what I believe to be a factory alarm. The horn has a gm sticker on it and the remote is a standard pontiac one. The problem is that everytime I close the car door the alarm sets after about 10 seconds. I then have to press the unlock button on the remote to turn off the alarm before getting in the car. The alarm sets whether the door is looked or not. I tried this procedure:
door open, turn ignition on then off, pull (radio) fuse out of fuse panel, turn ignition on, push unlock on door... you should here interior curtesy ding 2,3, or 4 dings. 1 is off 2 is I think keyless entry only, 3 is alarm keyless, and 4 is passive arm alarm keyless. Keep pushing unlock till apropriate # of dings. turn ignition off, put radio fuse back in.

Never got the dings to work.
Do I not have a factory alarm or am I doing something wrong?

Look for RPO code UA6. That's for the factory alarm. You should also see AU0 for remote keyless entry.

 

It has the RPO code for the keyless entry but not for the factory alarm. I am thinking it was dealer installed since it has a GM sticker on the alarm horm. Now how do find out how to program it?
