6x9" or 6.5" speakers?

I'm on a quest to get bass without a system so I need reccomendations for under $100 a set. However, it was brought to my attention by EX67 that no home audio components use oval speakers. So I am curious any other opinions on what brand speakers and what size I should get for more bass. THanks!

Oval speakers typically sound terrible. Save up and get some nice 6.5" and a sub. The pioneer REV (yellow cones) can be ordered online for $100 or so and sound great. They have good mid bass too but if you are at all like me then you will need an amp/sub to finish the system.

Thanks. I listen to rock so I need some more punch, not thumping bass like alot of people who listen to rap prefer. Thanks.

Punch comes from bigger speakers. 6.5's or 6X9's are really Not going to cut it unless maybe you have 20 of them. Nah, even then it wouldn't sound right.

I'm trying to avoid installing subs, I wonder if I could fit 8" in my sail panel? 10's would be nice too. I think 6.5" would be good to avoid complications. Damn 6x9 pioneers I wasted my money on!

if you want a set of 6" components that really get down low try out a set of Kodas with 100-150 watts and prepare to be impressed.

So many have done this because of price point. Pioneer's suck for the most part but their REV line (yellow cones) are quite impressive.

I would have to say no. At least not up to my high standards. I was very fortunate to get my Pioneer REV 6.5's for $65 as a closout demo model especially since they retail for about 3 times that. But you can find them online for around $100. Here is a link:

I'm not sure if the company is reputable or not but you can search for Pioneer TS-D160R

You won't be disappointed with the pioneers I recommended. They are the best in the price range by far.
