3rd gen speaker placement?

The third gens have 4x6" in dash and 6x9" in the rear stock. I want to get rid of my 4x6" in dash and put some 6.5" in the kick panels (not the door). The 4x6" have no bass and I don't like how they rattle the speaker grills when I turn up the stereo. Would putting 6.5" by my feet sound good? I have a few concerns since the dash speakers make listening with the tops down actually possible, and the speaker way up by my feet may sound funny? I will not mount them in my door since I have some nice door panels and I don't want to run wires through the door. Is this idea valid? Comments? Thanks!

Damn, there isn't enough room behind it. I don't really want to have to cut the steel.
