2000 z28 Monsoon system

The Z I just purchased has a Monsoon system in it. Ive heard they are suppose to sound awesome. However, mine sounds like crap. There is no real bass to speak of at all. Granted mine is a convertible and doesnt appear to have but four speakers but it sounds hallow and non bassy. Is there some kind of trouble shooting for this? All 4 speakers seem to work just dont sound well at all. Thanks for the advice.

Well, I can't really say for sure about the 2000 year, but in 2001 their was to types of monsoons available. Standard was a 200 watt system and for $100 more you could get the 500 watt system. I went with the upgrade in my car. I am looking at my order sheet now and the code for the 500 watt system was UNO and it came with 8 speakers and speed compensated volume.

UN0 is on my RPO code list too but there isnt 8 speakers but there is speed compensated volume. Still though its not that its not loud it just sounds like crap. Still would like some troubleshooting ideas or possibilities that it wouldnt sound as good as my 97 that didnt have the monsoon but had 6 speakers

if i remember right, the convertibles didnt come with 8 speakers. My guess is that the speakers were already replaced with something not monsoon and thats why you have no bass. Take one out and see. If so go back to monsoon speakers or bypass the monsoon amp.

Re: 2000 z28 Monsoon system

in the non-convertibles it is behind the spare tire. I thought the convertibles had them on the shelf right behind the rear seats. basically what you would do to bypass it is take the output wires from the radio (at the amp) and connect them to the wires going to each speaker (at the amp), or you could run new wires from the radio to each speaker. As far as the speakers go, it should have monsoon stamped on the back. If someone switch them out it should be fairly obvious.

When I finally get off working 12hrs a day 7 days a week Ill pull them out and look. Thanks for the info. It really gets on my nerves that the car doesnt sound better than the 97 and is actually much worse. Hopefully Ill find that they arent monsoon speakers and its an easy fix so I have better sound.
