I'd like to upgrade someones HU , it's a 1995 formula, 10 speaker system , I can check the RPO codes but I believe it was the monsoon system without a CD change (UNO RPO code?).

The radio/cd player are flipping the F out , you hit a bump and it switches to CD , CD hasn't worked in years and just grinds etc... really awesome quality from GM

- I don't want to replace speakers
- I would rather not mess with the amp (I can disconnect it if necessary?)
- I have installed 10+ HUs before, so not a complete noob, I just don't have time to rip the interior apart or money to replace all 10 speakers.

what would you recommend?

Does the HU I pick have to be compatible with 2-ohm speakers?

I've searched the forum a bit and I'm getting confused by all the delco/monsoon/amp threads I stumble on.

 

Sound like you've done a search, so to make it simple...

All you need to change out the stock HU for an aftermarket HU is...

A new HU, a new wiring harness, a new mounting kit.

The new HU will work perfectly fine with the stock Monsoon speakers and amp.
