Question 2/4 Ohm amps

I don't get how amps have ratings of 2 and 4 ohms? Does that just mean what the power would be going though a 2 or 4 ohm sub/speakers? You don't change or set something on the amp to be just 2 or 4 ohms right?

You are correct. The 2 or 4 ohm rating of an amp is dependent on the load of the speaker(s). Wiring your speakers together in series or parallel will change the load on the amp. With almost all amps, the lower the impedence the more power output.
