2 12" Solo Baric's

I have another post in the for sale forum about a system for sale, someone emailed me about the sound quality compared to some JL subs his friend had, i dont know what to tell him maybe some of you can help, these speakers are powered by a Kicker KX1200.1 sub.... anyone worked with this combo, or close too?

well, the Solos will likely not sound as good as any of the lines that JL has out, but with a really good install you can at least make them sound respectable...

You can't be series....I've heard a set of 10" JL W0 powered by a Phoenix Gold amp and a single 10" kicker L5 powered by a Profile amp. I did the install on both cars. the JLs were in a Firebird, the L5 was in a Mustang. The single L5 sounded better then the JLs. So to me the statement that the anything JL puts out sounds better than a solo baric, just doesn't seem right.

thanks guys, yea to respond to the "JLS are better post" a friend of mine had 3 JL 10's were in a old camaro and switched the JL's witha single Solo Baric 10 and it sounded ALOT better. it was clearer and hit alot harder, so that kid bought the single kicker 10 instead of the jls....:-) sounds good

Ya it blew my mind. The L5 was the one you can get from Crutchfield that is in a truck box. the Box is tiny...I also have a 90 standard cab toyota...I could almost put three of them behind my seat. but the JLs were in a box made for 3 it barely fit in the t-top well. But don't get me wrong I liked the JLs too, but the L5 solo just blew my mind, at how much sound was coming out of that little box.

Before I put it in his Mustang, I laid it in in my Camaro, it just looked like it was made for it.

Before this gets out of hand. The L7's and L5's are just not known for having great SQ, whereas JL on the other hand has a great repputation. This has nothing to do with output. As far as output I'd say the Kikcer offerings are pretty up there. I just prefer the sound of a sub with better SQ qualities. Anyone heard the IDMAX? What about a Brahma? Or even the W7? You wanna talk output AND SQ, look to the big boys. But remember, you must feed the beast to make him frisky.

I should have made the exception in the W0 case.... but in the right enclosure they can sound relativly good too, but they are similar to the L7 in that they need a LOT of airspace to bring the QTC to a reasonable level....

For all you people that love the SQ of the Solos, that is just fine with me... all that matters is that you like it in your system.... i have heard hundreds of different subs in my years of car audio, and never heard a W3, or W6 that sounded as bad transiently as the best L7 setup.... take that as you will.

That's cool, I've always believed that a stereo system is only as good as the person who owns it. If they like it, then it's good.

Absolutely ! It's all about personal prefrence when it's a system for personal enjoyment.
