12- disc cd changer ...

I have the optional 12 disc cd changer for my '02 SS, and I am wondering whether I should replace it with another unit or to buy an aftermarket unit. If I go aftermarket, which unit would be comparable to the steering wheel controls?

My unit has given me problems since day one. I had it relocated right after I bought the car, and had some background noise coming from it that resulted from bad wiring. I fixed the wiring and it held together well until recently. Now I am experiencing fading in one of the channels on all of the discs, that seems to last from perhaps 15 minutes to almost an hour. This is a new problem that showed up after I changed the discs in it about a month and a half ago. Not sure whether it is the changer, or the wiring harness, or the discs (I've checked all of these areas, but I am still having the problem). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if your changing the factory changer, and keeping the stock head unit, y ou will have to get a rf modulated cdchanger and you will also loose the controls on the steering wheel, if you change the deck as well you would have to see if they have a interface for the new deck to be able to be controled at the steering wheel, either way if you change the changer you more than likely wont be able to use the wheel controls.
