Unhappy 02 WS6 Factory Monsoon help

Ok guys I just bought a 02 ws6 friday and the radio and cd player worked flawlessly for the 130 mile drive home. Now all of a sudden the sound keeps going out. It has the factory monsoon cd player. The lights and buttons all function correctly but no sound. I figured out yesterday that when I hit bumps it sometimes makes it come back on or go off. Even accelerating up a hill makes it work sometimes but as soon as I top the hill it goes off. Obviously something is losing connection. Its been about 6 years since I've fooled with any stereo stuff so I'm a little rusty. Since the sound in all the speakers goes out I know its not a speaker problem. I was thinking that the amp gets its power from the battery and the amp gets signal through a remote wire. So is there a way to check it the amp is losing power, or if the head unit isn't getting the signal to the amp. I'm not sure if I said all that clearly but anyway you know what the problem is. Has anyone had a similar problem that found a fix. Any advice or experience would be a great help. Please don't post retarted comments saying monsoon sucks and all that bull. Just need real advice from someone who has a quality comment that may help. Thanks alot

Remember this is an 02 ws6 haven't updated my sig yet

First thing is check your electrical connections at the back including the antenna.

Ok checked the connections to the amp and power antenna. All looks good. It started working last night then pulled into my driveway and it went out again. I've wiggled on the amp connector and wiggling the amp itself. Doesn't seem to do anything. How hard is it to pull out the factory head unit and check the connections on it? any special tools. I'm not too up on the anti theft stuff since i'm not a thief ha.

I would call the person you bought from and ask what they knew about it. Usually if you don't act angry and be straight with people like that, they'll tell you. Maybe he had a "trick" to making it work.

I'm not sure if there's a fuse on an 02 for the monsoon, but i'd check that out if there is one. You could see in the owner's manual. Sometimes a hack shop might jam some wire in the fuse box to power something else up. Regardless, i'd replace the fuse. It's possible it could have a poor connection or could just be going bad.

Ok I have a buddy that just changed out his head unit and amp with an aftermarket system. He still had his stock stuff that worked fine when he took it out. I swapped out our headunits, with no fix. Then tried swapping the amp, but still didn't get any sound. Anybody else had this problem. Please help I don't want to buy new stuff and it not be the problem. Thanks

Is there anyone that would know which wires to check that would prevent me from getting sound. Is there a "remote" wire that feeds signal to the amp? I don't think the amp powers all the speakers so I'm not sure if that would be it. It would have to be something that feeds ALL the speakers. Everything works on the head unit just no sound.

Check the Antenna

I know this may sound somewhat stupid but I would check the antenna that is mounted in the hatch. I know that I have a 1997 but the sound system for the T/A's was the same through the final generation. I know this is true because my retractable antenna went out and I had to replace it from gmperformanceparts.com and they only had one but it fit a 1997 to a 2002. To get to the antenna you to need to raise your hatch, remove the folding T-top cover, remove the right rear plastic piece that contains the 6x9 speaker. Next, you will have to remove the spare tire and this is a pain (at least for me because I took my time, didnt want to scratch anything). Next, you should see a tube with a plug in connection at the the bottom bolted to a mounting bracket. This is the antenna, check the connection and inspect it to make sure it is in working order, and if you have to, unplug the antenna, unbolt it and pull it out from the top (in a downward motion, so that the tip flows through the black rubber grommet that stabilizes it. Hope this helps. Sorry I dont have any pics.

Did you have to replace it because it quit working or because you were having the same problem I am. My Antenna works fine. Its not just radio sound it is cd sound also.

I had to replace it because the retractable motor in the antenna quit working. The radio and all sound still worked fine, just my antenna stopped going up and down. I would still check it though because there are two connections on the bottom of the antenna, one for the motor and one for audio. The only other thing I could think of is that there is maybe a loose cable on the back of the head unit or something but I remember you saying that you have done that already. Other than that I am kind of clueless.

you could check that a speaker wire isnt grounding out on something and putting the amp in protect.
