Question $600 for a decent system,is it possible?

Just looking to upgrade my amp and sub combo, what's available in this price range maybe a little more. I'm ordering the Alpine 7894 head unit and want something decent to go with it. Right now I'm running a 10" bandpass box with a punch amp bridged at 200 watts, OK, but want more bass. Considering 1 Kicker solbaric 12 cuz I understand they don't need a huge box, haven't thought of an amp yet, too much to choose from and I'm not that well versed on car audio to make a decision. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanx, Rain

if you trade/sell your old setup and take that 600$ and play your cards right, you can have a setup that hits so hard you could enter and possibly win competitions with. you just gotta know where to look for deals.

around $600 for just subs and an amp? That should be easy.

You could go for an adire brahma and a JBL 1200.1 for $645 which is a little more than you wanted to spend but worth every penny.

you could go with 2 elemental design k series 12s (d2s) with a JBL 1200.1 for $518 or if you don't want that much bass you could even go with the JBL 600.1 instead, that would only cost $438.

If you don't want your setup to take a lot of room but you want lots of bass then go for the brahma since it will work well in only 1 cubic foot sealed. If you're willing to sacrifice some more space and save some money then go with the 2 e12kd2s but they will require 2-3 cubic feet sealed.

You could even go with 1 elemental kseries 12 (d4) and a JBL 600.1 for $330 and use a 1.5 cubic foot box.

Lots of choices for under/around $600

Do you have good front speakers? If not then go with the $330 sub/amp combo and get a decent component set with an amp with the remaining money.

Thanks for the advice, where are the prices coming from that you quoted? Also, is the Kicker solo baric a bad choice? A buddy of mine has 2 in his Taurus and I was impressed with how much noise they make with such a small enclosure. Thanks again, Rain

The Solobaric is a good sub for getting loud, but for real sound quality they require an absolutly huge enclosure. Even in a 1.5 cube sealed (moderate size) they are quite poor sounding compared to what other subs can gice you. The Brahma is an excellent choice, i have ot recommend going to the Adireaudio website and see if there is a local dealer, if there isn't the soundillusions.net online store is the place i would get one from.

What's been going on with Adire recently anyway?!?!?! Ampman dropped their products, is taking the Adire name off the REVO, and basically kicking them off teamamp! And the weirdest thing is, Adire is kinda trying to be all secrectative about it. They won't say much.....

I am not sure that it was ampman that dropped adire and not the other way around.... ampman had some customer service problems recently and Adire focuses heavily on it. I have dealt with Kirk Neal anyways and he is a real schyster. I wouldn't speculate who dropped who untill i hear more.

You're right. I shoudn't speculate either. I was just reading the little blurb that ampman posted on their site. I know Adire has had a hard time keeping up with orders. Even if the strike did or didn't affect them......... they are having people complaining about not recieving their product. Add that to the fact Adire isin't saying much and it REALLY REALLY LOOKS like ampman dropped them. I have never had any problems with ampman and I find it hard to believe that they would be allowed to carry such high-end gear, if their company wasn't up to snuff. I would really look to see Adire say something! And I hope it WAS the other way around. I love Adire. Got the Koda's on the way!!..... or so I may think........
