Post "camaro" panel on back rattles!

ok, ive figured EXACTLY where the rattling comes from...

i have 2 12" JLW3s... hit hard as hell...well..getting to the point...

well the panal that says camaro on the back of the car(above bumper) is the ONLY thing that rattles in/on my car... when i get 2 people to hold it down, hard, its doesnt rattle at all, even when blairing!...well

im thinking i need to put a small foam or rag or something between it and the car, how can i take it out to get something behind it? looks like i need to take out the tail lights... is it hard to do that?!!?!?

THX

actually, it's the hatch lock not the panel that is rattling. I thought it was that also, but it was after I removed the panel and kept it off and turned my system up is where I tracked down the problem. Still haven't found a solution yet

Well, I would get some of that foam that you use to put in door ways to stop air leaks and it had a sticky side! I would place it around the seam where the hatch hits. It should asorbe the vibration Let me know how it turns out!

I don't know if its different on the 98, my guess is its not. but you peel back your carpet along the inside wall of your trunk. there should be two black plastic wing nuts that hold each taillight on. then there are two 10mm nuts on each side of the car that hold onto the panel. thats the way it is on my 94. i'm in the process of putting dynamat on the inside of that panel. i put some original on it b/c the stereo store recommended it, but it only quieted the panel down a little bit. I'm going to go back and buy some extreme dynamat. goodluck. also the latch rattler. on each side of the hatch while its up, theres a little black nub/bumpstop, turn it out 1/2 turn at a time, it should tighten your latch up, but if you go too far your wing/fender lines will mess up. gl

This is what I did.. I took styrofoam pads and stuck them behind the panel.. I couldnt figure out how to get it off so I wedged them up there from the bottom. There is a small opening at the bottom if you look.. now I am rattle free

I had the same problem. The lock broke completely off so I removed it. That was some of the rattle problem. I just use the keyless plus I dont have to worry about the old screwdriver theft approach. The main problem is the rear cover as others have mentioned. a lot of soft foam. Youd have to drop the bumper to really pack the foam.
