Zeta Lite....brace yourselves.
As you all know, GM is in a cash crunch. It's a beautiful time to be a bean counter at GM....because people are actually listening to your ridiculous opinions.
Well, on to Zeta Lite.
There is a faction gaining momentum within GM, that wants to take what was once Zeta and add the Colorados' rear suspension to it......not just for Camaro, but for all the cars which were planned for Zeta. This is the new "performance" RWD chassis that we've been hearing about.
The thing is....the cost savings between this truck set-up (literally) and a world class IRS system is small. I know the actual dollar amount...and I won't quote it (yet) specifically, but we would never notice the difference on the sticker. The cost difference is substantially less than what Ford quoted the savings was on the Mustang.
But get this, we'd still pay what we would have paid for IRS.
This is all a misguided means to get more profit...and hope nobody notices the mechanical switch-a-roo.
And money is so tight at GM right now, the big guys are actually agreeing with the snivelling bean counters.
Engineering is vehemently against it.....accounting loves it.
My intent is to fight this proposal with every fiber of my being.

Darth Xed's solution:
~~ Dump the stupid across-the-board GM exterior badges, and use all that money to actually improve an upcoming product instead of wasting it on badges that no one wants.

Didin't Ford say they only saved $500/car by using the buggy axle?
If it's substantially less than that then somone's a MORON! They could have had that advantage over the Mustang and are pissing it away for less than $500?!?!

The difference in cost between a John Deere suspension and a world class IRS to GM is the cost of a nice night out for you and your wife.

C'Mon... GM... just roll the $40-50 into the MSRP if you have to... no one would even notice for God's sake. In-Year MSRP increases are more than that!!!!
Re: Zeta Lite....brace yourselves.
Wait, we bash GM for putting a live axle rear for the Camaro, yet Ford gets praise for its live axle cause its "for enthusiasts" and "holds up to more power"??
If you guys can eat Ford's BS about there used of the live axle, then you can eat GM's.
As for buying a Ford...why? There seems to be nothing different in chassis set up outside that Zeta SHOULD have SLA front suspension.

Z/28 buyer (you know the Z06 Camaro) would paid $1000.00 for an IRS option.....I know I would.

At any rate...it's relative peanuts.
