Z06 beats 911 turbo around a track by 2.5 seconds.
More proof that the Z06 is the best car that GM has ever produced.

Interesting. I'm willing to bet, though, that your average unexperienced noob (unexperienced both with racing in general as well as with either car) would produce better results in the 911. Most reports say the 911 is just far more predictable and confidence inspiring. Doesn't feel as much like taming a beast.
So what I guess this means is that for your average everyday joe, the 911 turbo may still feel more capable, even if, in equally skilled hands, the Z06 is the overall winner.
Dunno how many of you have driven a mid 90s viper but that's a great example. That car almost dares you to make one wrong move... it's all over when you do.

You must have never driven a C6 Z06....I have.... It's a docile feeling, if not more solid feeling ride than my C5 (which isn't stock either).
It's light years ahead of a 1st gen Viper.Rear engine cars aren't that much fun at WOT in the corners....too tail happy for me.

I think you also have to wonder how long the Z06 will last on the track being run hard for lap after lap and which one is going to break first...they will both break eventually; the question is, which car has the overall better cmponents that will hold up the longest...I dont' have the answer here; just wondering.
I've literally seen a C5 Z06 coming off a track with melted rotors (and it was being driven by a guy who knew how to drive) I've never see a Porsche with an issue like that. Not a completely fair comparison perhaps but it does illustrate the point.

Threxx, I believe it was the previous generation Z06 that all the car ragazines said was harder to drive than its elapsed-time counterparts.

So who knows.
Re: Z06 beats 911 turbo around a track by 2.5 seconds.
I've read numerous articles on the Z06... I can't remember a single one that said it was hard to drive... in the city or at it's limits on a track. Too the contrary, it is usually praised for these attributes.
I've driven a C6 Z06 as well, admittedly I did not beat on the car and took it quite easy. There was nothing about it that made it even slightly unpleasant to drive on a country road.... I can't personally say anything definative about taking it to a track based on driving experience in these conditions, but, again, I can't remember it being bashed for being a chore to handle at the limits.

Both cars have been hot-lapped at the 'Ring with no incidents so I'd think the concerns about breakage are almost moot...
