While I could care less about their V8, it is sad to see any RWD platform/cars cancelled

Honda is doing as bad as GM and Ford lately. Sales down 34% for the month.

Honda's conserving money under an expected prolong downturn.

I wonder if the Ridgeline will get a redesign or if it will just dissapear as well? It sold 34K this year, down only 21% over 2007, I honestly have no idea if that's enough units to justify cost? Does it share a platform at all? Maybe with the pilot? They still sold about 97K of those.

It's a shame they killed those programs, even Hyundai has a v-8 now!

The Ridgeline is built on a spaceframe chassis, they hired an ex GM engineer and brought it to market for the bargain cost of I believe like $250m. It doesnt share the chassis with any other Honda. Given the low initial cost, it could still be profitable. The similiarly built spaceframe Fiero made money at only 26k units in 1988.

Which in turn is based on Accord chassis. Just like the Pilot.

Whatever the case with the Ridgeline, it's based on a FWD chassis.
