Yea! The VW Golf R32 is coming!!!!

The AWD 3.2L 240hp VR6 is coming state side in Jan-Feb, and who cares. Its Slower than all the other AWD competition and costs the same or more. Just another example of overpriced junk. Doesn't VW build some of the most problem filled cars on the road? How long are they Gonna ride this "Its a German car so it must be better " crapola. I would rather drive the STI or Evo circus cars.

lol I read a review on it that said it has a v6 that sounds like a 4 cylinder with a weedy sounding exhaust. But the way they talked about it, they see that as a good thing.

well, considering it is 240hp, awd, in a car that weights next to nothing, i am sure it is nothing to worry about, there is already a tuner that has it up to 500hp, on the tubro v6. but even stock, i wouldnt be surprised if it gave quite a few lt1's a run for hte money.

Sure, it's fun to drive but...

This is not entirely untrue. My wife's VW seems to have some small token (but irritating) problem every 5,000 miles. After 74,000 miles, it starts to get really old.

I wish it were better....I really want a 5-speed Diesel Jetta wagon (for the wife, honest. )but unless they really get their act together I just don't see it happening.

JD Power thinks they have plenty of problems....

Wasnt there a thread that listed VW as one top cars to vivit the daler for repairs?

The car is the same weight as its ASian AWD cars. 0-60 in the 6.4 seconds and the 1/4 in the high, high 14s/low 15s. Not even a LT1 beater. Its gonna be sad when my wife is spanking the VW in her yellow SRT4.

Here are the number for R32:

0-60 mph: 6.4 seconds
1/4 mi: 14.50@95.00 mph
braking 60-0: 115 ft

Now there's a tuner (HPA and they have stage 1 with 400 HP, stage 2 with 550 HP and stage 3 with 600 hp.

The numbers for 550 HP:
0-60 mph: 3.2 seconds
1/4 mile: 11.49@120.18 mph

I am sure the car is not as light as may appear, most likely around 3000 lbs. I am also surprised that for 550HP it does only 120 mph... that's not so great. But, having said that, 600 HP version will probably hit 10's, and that would be nice to see.

Give me a break - the R32 Golf is old news, in Europe at least. The new A5 Golf is going to have a 3.6 liter(!) VR6 flagship GTI model.

That said, the Haldex AWD system that VW uses in the current A4 is amazing compared to what Subaru and Mitsubishi use. In addition, those Japanese cars feel flimsy in comparision to a tank-like VeeDub. In addition, try to find a VW mechanic that's ever changed a head gasket on a VR6 - these motors just don't seem to breakdown.

Anyway, the R32 is big news to rabid GTI fans. Personally, I'd wait for the next generation, but I'm not a VW nut.
